All day meeting Monday, June 25!!

Taking the stuff up to the church so we can pack it...in the torrential rain of Tropical Storm Debbie.
We met at 9:00 am. Here are some shots of the work and play in getting ready for our trip. We were so glad to have Zachary and Savannah be with us. We enjoyed a great pot-luck lunch at noon and a much needed break.  We sang all the teen songs, did two VBS opening assembly's, ran all skits again, packed 40 suitcases, and ran the games!
Lolly the clown skit - The Masterpiece!
Seth charming Riley!
Bugzi puppet show. Caleb is amazing as Bugzi!
Great job writing the script, Lori Buker!!
Bugzi will be TRANSFORMED by the end of VBS!!
Happy Birthday, Savannah!  Thanks for coming early and joining us!!
Practicing for the teen rally.  Now if we could only figure out what key to sing the songs in....
Our Safety Green travel shirts - we won't be getting separated in the airport!!
I call these our Glow-in-the-Dark shirts!
Caleb teaching us how to twist balloons. He makes a great flower!  Savannah showed us how to make Jonah in the whale.  Jonah was a tiny balloon inside of the regular balloon and he can roll all around in the balloon.  MOST everyone was successful at learning that technique!
Caleb's skit and motley crew!
No Sir, I was just picking my nose!

Loving that military posture!!
Kings and Jesters Skit
Time to pack - no problem with Stephanie and Emily in charge!!
Riley and Ainsley weight about 70 pounds!!
Hey guys, what about the suitcases???
The guys would weigh our personal check-in suitcase and then we we added VBS supplies until we got to 50 pounds. Everybody did a great job of packing light. We had suitcases to spare and immediately emailed the Sinclairs to see if they had more stuff we could bring to them.
50 pounds - perfecto!
Mr. Nichols in charge of game time practice!  We are definitely going to have some fun!!
Ship ahoy game!  Man overboard.  Seth, "Hey somebody, anybody, come here and be with me."
Alas, nobody answered and Seth was OUT!
Almost normal AWANA relay - but with someone giving the person with the bag on their head instructions on where to go. Poor Shanna, nobody was really helping her and she was kinda lost!
Four way tug - some serious pulling going on here!  All we managed to really do was to crumple up the cool AWANA game mat - nobody even won.  Seth - was disqualified for letting go of the rope.  Having not grown up in AWANA, he had not learned the number one rule of tug of war -
DO NOT EVER EVER LET GO OF THE ROPE. Sarah Beth, however, had grown up in AWANA, was actually tug-of-war state master, and even though nobody really knew why she was sitting down for most of the game, she was following great AWANA coaching guidelines...now if only her partner Seth hadn't LET GO OF THE ROPE!
Bean bag toss. Can you tell who has had AWANA games coaching??  I can!!!
A little intensity! Do you think he will scare the little kids in Cameroon?
This is Sharon laughing until she had tears running down her face.  I won't share what was making her laugh...although it was PRETTY FUNNY!!
And we are finished with our all day meeting!
Cameroon - here we come!!

  1. I am so thrilled to be able to follow the team via this blog! Thank you, Mrs. Peterson, for posting to it faithfully. Please know that a church full of folks here in Alabama are praying for your safety and for an abundance of fruit for your labors. I am confident that God is preparing hearts in Cameroon to receive His Son!
